Why You Keep Solving the Same Problem (and How to Stop)

You’re the type who doesn’t wait for instructions. You jump in, troubleshoot on the fly, and make things happen.

But how many times have you found yourself fixing the same issue… again?

If you're constantly answering repeat questions, cleaning up recurring messes, or retracing your steps to “just get it done,” you’re not leading. You’re looping.

High Quick Starts are especially prone to this cycle. You move fast and adapt quickly, but that flexibility can come at the cost of consistency.

Without systems in place, even your best solutions stay stuck in your head…and your team can’t replicate them.

Here’s how to break the cycle:

  • Document what works. If you’ve solved a problem once, capture the steps. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just accessible.  If you hate this part, have someone interview you while you do it, or do a screen recording of yourself performing the activity.
  • Create repeatable processes. With your process captured, build frameworks your team can run with. When every solution is a one-off, your time gets eaten alive.  Look for the repeatables in all parts of your time.  Document and then handoff.
  • Delegate the fix. Don’t just solve it. Assign ownership for the future. Empower someone to take it off your plate permanently.  The number one reason things break is because no one "owns" it.  Don't forget this step!
